Law in Arizona requires employees to be paid at least twice a month. At least two days per month must be designated as fixed paydays by an employer, and the days between them cannot be more than 16 days apart. in addition to that, an employer must pay their employees “before” a holiday or weekend when their scheduled payday falls on a holiday or weekend. It is imperative that the pay periods are not longer than 16 days apart between each other.
An employer whose principal business is located outside Arizona and whose payroll processing is centralized may be exempt from the 16-day limit. However, As described in the Fair Labor Standards Act, this exclusion only applies to executive, professional, administrative, and outside sales positions. In addition, supervisory positions are excluded under the National Labor Relations Act.
