HCPS has the most National Board for Professional Teaching Standards-certified instructors among central Virginia school divisions, at 153. The completion of the challenging procedure is the profession’s pinnacle achievement. In January 2020, the National Board acknowledged 26 HCPS instructors who have earned certification. The national board also named HCPS one of 11 school divisions throughout the country that was honored to assist teachers in obtaining certification.

Henrico Schools offers comprehensive programs and services to families with special needs kids, exceptional students, homebound and homeschooled students, and students learning English as a second language.
Each high school in the division is state-accredited and has an academic specialization center. Students with specific interests, such as engineering, the arts, or global languages, can specialize in specialist centers. The International Baccalaureate Middle Years curriculum is offered in three middle schools. In comparison, the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program is offered at two high schools.
